Actress Jahnvi Kapoor, who celebrated her 22nd birthday this week with a visit to Varanasi with her dad Boney Kapoor and sister Khushi, doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to sign films.
Her debut was last year’s summer release, ‘Dhadak’, produced by Karan Johar.
Her next two films – ‘Takht’ and ‘Rannbhoomi’, also produced by Johar – will release only in 2020.
We hear that a film was offered to her that had her playing a double role, one a serious avatar and the other a flighty one. But it seems Jahnvi turned it down, as she didn’t want to be compared to her mum Sridevi’s iconic double role in ‘Chaalbaaz’.
Jahnvi’s team, meanwhile, is denying that such a film ever came her way.
Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor made their Bollywood debut in the same year. In no time, the two star kids have become darlings of Bollywood lovers. From their fashion sense to their films to their love life, the young ladies are in news for almost everything. If their popularity has made them a favourite with many, they cannot escape the constant comparisons drawn between them. In fact, more often than not, they are pitted against each other.
However, Janhvi and Sara have only love and respect for each other. The Kedarnath actress in a recent interview to a magazine opened up on her equation with Janhvi. She revealed that she has known Janhvi for long and the there is only admiration for her.
She said, “I’ve known Janhvi since I was in college. Those days I had shed a bit of my weight and was at 86 kilos. I’ve hung out with her in Los Angeles, in Bombay. I’ll always wish the best for her. I haven’t hung out with her recently, since we’ve both been busy. But whenever I see her, there’s mutual admiration for each other’s work.”
“The last time we met, someone had put up a comparison of us in sarees on Instagram. I asked her, ‘Did you see the latest?’ We’re comfortable in our own skins and respect each other. Also, we understand the industry. I understand that it’s inevitable for the media to compare us. If at all, I find it a little funny. I guess, it would have been irritating for Janhvi before my film released. She’d done a film and I hadn’t. At least now the comparisons make sense because we’re both actors.”
On the work front, Janhvi is currently shooting for Kargil Girl. The film is a biopic on IAF pilot Gunjan Saxena who helped in evacuating injured soldiers from Kargil in 1999. Gunjan was also the first woman to be awarded Shaurya Chakra.
Sara, on the other hand, is yet to sign her next after Simmba. Speculation is rife that Sara might be seen in David Dhawan’s remake of Coolie No 1 opposite Varun Dhawan. She will step into Karisma Kapoor’s shoes and it is said that the makers are tweaking the script to ensure that she gets a meatier role in the remake.
Buzz is that the Coolie No 1 remake will go on floors in July this year and hit the screens sometime next year
